Where it all started

Sensational Sewing is the creation of Sally Scarlett, an enthusiastic tea drinker with a passion for sewing and a pattern collection to match.

In 2013 she started Sensational Sewing as a seamstress offering alterations and dressmaking services for the Toowoomba and surrounding locals.

Sally’s enthusiasm for sewing led her to share her knowledge and passion for creativity by starting a sewing school. Sensational Sewing has been the place our students call their creative ‘home’ for over ten years.

OurStory

Sally has been sewing since she was six and loves the freedom of creativity it brings, as well as its importance as a life skill. Taught by both her mother and grandmother, sewing is a craft that has been passed down through generations of her family.

It’s this passion for sewing that she wants to share with others, driven by the joy of crafting that inspired her to start Sensational Sewing. With over 30 years of experience in the sewing and textiles industry, she loves passing on her knowledge and skills.

Our philosophy

Crafting is best shared together. That’s it. Simple but not to be underestimated.

Bouncing ideas around, sharing tips and tricks, and supporting each other in crafting ventures is what we’re here for. We know how important creativity is in our lives; it’s a mindful activity that sparks joy and brings us together.
